Leak shows massive maps and content from CoD Modern Warfare 2 – even details of the mysterious DMZ mode

So far, leaks have come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 rather drop by drop. But now there was a short but strong shower with new information about this year’s CoD. Maps, weapons, operators, DMZ information – a leaker has revealed a lot of information and publisher Activision has already signaled through its “Strikes” that the leaker is on to something here.

The release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for October 28th and so far there is little official information about the shooter – a little gameplay, details about innovations and background of the story.

But especially with the multiplayer modes, you don’t know much so far, if you only look at the official publications. Together with the leaks, however, you can already draw a picture.

This image has since become a little sharper. A leaker claims to have found data on CoD MW2 from the files of an alpha version of Warzone-Mobile, which was already running in May 2022.

Among them are pictures of a dozen maps and even information about the next Call of Duty from developer Treyarch – which will probably not appear until 2024. MeinMMO introduces you to the leak.

Please note: The information in this article is an unconfirmed leak. Even if the images are real and the data is based on actual game data, a lot can still change by the time the development work is completed. Therefore, treat the information with a certain amount of skepticism.

CoD MW2: Map Leak July 2022

The leak comes from a dataminer called “orange man” and was spread via Twitter. The leaker’s main account is already suspended due to copyright infringement. We will therefore not include any images that also violate copyright law.

In the analyzed files, the Dataminer found new references to over 30 multiplayer maps. Some of them are still “left” from CoD MW 2019 and do not necessarily have to appear in MW2 2022. Open the spoiler box to see the long list:

In addition, the Dataminer showed a list of almost 20 weapons that should be included in CoD MW2. Again, we put the list in a spoiler box for you:

Further lines of code also give clues to the mysterious DMZ mode. According to previous leaks, this is a mode that follows the gameplay of Escape from Tarkov.

This “extraction mode” could even come with a Free2Play model as a standalone version, similar to Warzone 2020.

At the moment it is still completely unclear why the data for CoD MW2 could be found in an alpha version of Warzone-Mobile. The leaker claims to have discovered concept art for maps from the Treyarch developers’ next Call of Duty.

According to this, the Call of Duty after CoD MW2 is more towards the future and could offer soft science fiction, similar to Battlfield 2042.

It will still be months before CoD MW2 starts and which maps we will see when the shooter starts remains completely open for the time being.
