Horizon Forbidden West adds VRR and 120Hz mode with new update

Guerrilla Games provides Horizon Forbidden West with a new update. This time the title gets support for displays with variable frame rate and an HDR mode for 120Hz monitors as well as a graphics mode with 40Hz.

The long-awaited features are finally here

So patch 1.17 allows for a smoother gaming experience – as long as players have the appropriate screens. VRR syncs the game’s refresh rate, which ensures there are fewer noticeable drops in framerate. Other graphic problems are also reduced.

Sony said of VRR support in April: “Gameplay in many PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes are rendered seamlessly, graphics look sharper and input lag is reduced.” When the PS5 is connected to a TV or monitor with HDMI 2.1 with matching compatibility, VRR will be automatically enabled for supported games.
