Berlin – Elias “EliasN97” Nerlich is currently at the top of the food chain on Twitch. But the predatory authority of the 24-year-old has probably not yet arrived at tomcat Manfred. The streamer showed up on Instagram on July 5 trying to raise the cute gray cat – and failing miserably. Anti-Schleck slogan: not with Manni.

Who is Manfred? At the beginning of 2022, EliasN97 reported for the first time on the new animal addition to the Nerlich family. Together with his girlfriend Melina, the Twitch star brought two cuddly British Shorthair cats into his apartment in Berlin. Fans were immediately hooked on Manfred (Manni) and Diego. The cat vlog was able to accumulate more than twice as many views as other videos in a similar period (≈ 700,000).

Meanwhile, Diego and Manfred even have their own Instagram account with a whopping 135,000 followers – more than some Twitch streamers can unite. The two fur balls can be recognized by their round head and body shape, which is typical of the breed, which is why they are among the most popular pets. Just like their master, the two tomcats are of average height. In July 2022, EliasN97 lost out in a size comparison to MontanaBlack.

This is how EliasN97 wants to raise his cat: The two cats are now more than 15 months old – significantly longer than their master’s Mercedes, because EliasN97 was recently involved in a parking fiasco. But anyone who has ever had a feline roommate knows that training domestic predators is one of those things. EliasN97 had to experience this first hand. In its Instagram story of July 5th he films the tomcat Manfred during an improvised educational measure. The task: Manni should resist the urge to lick his master’s finger.

Manfred remains stubborn: The idea behind the training is very simple: of course, Manni shouldn’t lick every stranger’s flippers the first time they meet him. So EliasN97 puts his hand in front of his animal roommate’s face, hoping the cat will resist the temptation. But it comes as it had to come and Manfred happily licks away. The harsh tone of the speech by Mr. Elias does not help either:

Not everyone is nice, Manfred. The world’s a little tough out there, you know that?

But even with the second attempt, Manfred happily licks away. The cute British Shorthair stayed true to his playful line, much to EliasN97’s displeasure. He gave up and quickly ended the Instagram story. In the end, the Twitch star may have failed in education, but Manni once again presented his sweetest side. One can only hope that EliasN97 will eventually get the licking quirk of his animal roommate under control.
