Pokémon Go: Niantic becomes the laughingstock of the community with a satisfaction survey

from Sarah Petzold
Niantic is currently asking players in Pokémon Go for their opinion on the game. But the associated poll is more likely to cause a lot of laughter and frustration among fans. Because it shows how little the developer really cares about the feedback from the PoGO community.

When it comes to responding to criticism and feedback from its own community, Niantic hasn’t exactly covered itself in glory over the past few months in the case of Pokémon GO. In particular, the withdrawal of various changes that the developers had implemented as a result of the Corona crisis caused displeasure among the fans, without Niantic reacting to it. A survey that the studio is currently making available to its players and that praises it with the statement that it appreciates the feedback from Pokémon GO users is all the more curious.

Fans think the survey is ridiculous

So far, fans and players of Niantic’s mobile app have extensively expressed their dissatisfaction with the current state of the title and past adjustments made by the developers on Reddit and in forums, without any response from Niantics. The survey with the reference to the appreciation of the feedback therefore seems like a mockery to many players.

Reddit user gabumonkid posted a screenshot of the poll on the TheSilphRoad subreddit. As a result, the survey itself consists of just two questions that players can answer using a scale of 1 to 10. Question 1: “How satisfied are you with Pokémon GO?”, Question 2: “How likely would you recommend Pokémon GO?”

Sara says: Sorry Niantic, but this poll strikes me as a halfhearted attempt to show investors and fans that you kind of listen to feedback after all. But only a little. Little bit.

If you really want to reverse the trend of Pokémon GO generating less and less revenue since 2021 and the reversal of the pandemic changes, you need more than such a survey with two measly questions with no real feedback option. Or you finally read what the fans write on reddit and Co.?
To the community, this survey of player satisfaction seems very half-hearted. A fan, for example, writes smugly on reddit: “Because there is no box for real feedback, Niantic will never know what they can do better!” – a clear swipe at the fact that the players have been openly expressing their wishes and criticism on the Internet for months. To what extent this survey will have any impact on the implementation of player feedback remains questionable.
