Doom 4: This is what the unreleased shooter would have looked like

You can now watch previously unseen material about the unreleased Doom 4 in a new video.

It can be seen in a new YouTube documentary by the Noclip channel, which goes into the development of Doom (2016), but also presents a few scenes from Doom 4.

What Doom 4 once looked like

In the new footage, you first see a fight against an imp using the well-known shotgun. Compared to Doom 2016, everything looks far more realistic and slower.

A second clip shows a melee with a bloody finisher.

Why was Doom 4 discontinued back then? According to earlier information from id Software, the project was scrapped because it felt too much like a Call of Duty clone.

Bethesda also later described it as the “right decision” to discontinue Doom 4. What followed next was the excellent Doom 2016. Done right, right?
