Fast & Furious: Gameplay scenes & first information about the new racing game

Fast & Furious (Rennspiel) von Raw Thrills

There are already a number of video games based on the Hollywood hit Fast & Furious. But the arcade pros at Raw Thrills have a new game in the works – now there are game scenes and information about it.

Not much was known beforehand about the racer, simply called Fast & Furious, but thanks to the camera recordings from the Bowl Expo 22 amusement fair (see video below), we are now much smarter: the company specializing in technically mixed but fast-paced arcade titles Raw Thrills – they recently created the whimsical Cruis’n Blast for the Switch – has crafted arcade games based on Halo, King Kong, Jurassic Park, Nerf and other major franchises. Incidentally, the company is managed by veteran Eugene Jarvis, who retro fans know as the creator of Defender, Robotron: 2084 and Smash TV.

Double screen like in the days of DS?

The game scenes are strongly reminiscent of the last Cruis’n game, the graphics are – at least in the filmed state – quite unspectacular. The arcade cabinet is tastelessly colorful, shakes the seats a bit and pretends the fake wheels are spinning under the seats. The most exciting thing is undoubtedly the aspect ratio – each player has two widescreens on top of each other, creating a surprisingly “vertical” overall picture. However, due to the simple combination of two normal screens (including a plastic border in between), the construction tastes more like a homemade brand – a single upright screen (also “curved” if you like, as the video creator cleverly notes) would have made a much more valuable impression here.

We don’t know if this Fast & Furious title will ever make its way to consoles, but given the aspect ratio, we have serious doubts. But maybe it will work with a mobile implementation. The game is scheduled to appear later this year and will probably cost around 25,000 euros per seat. So if you have coal left, you can go directly on the US distributor of Raw Thrills ring…
