Mass Effect writer was surprised fans wanted Garrus as a romance option
Garrus and Shepard make an unbeatable team, at least as of Mass Effect 2.
The Mass Effect trilogy is one of the greatest achievements of the sci-fi genre. This is not only due to the story, but of course also to the characters. Above all, however, that the whole story extends over three games and can therefore develop a lot of fascination. According to one author, he was very surprised that the Mass Effect fans really wanted the opportunity to hook up with Garrus after Part 1.
Mass Effect: Tali and Garrus should always return, but not necessarily as romance options
That’s what it’s about: In Mass Effect 2, many characters return from the first part, such as Garrus and Tali. Both can also become the target of Commander Shepard’s concentrated charm as a love interest in the sequel. But as an author now reveals, it wasn’t originally planned that we could have a relationship with the two characters.

Return was previously determined: Again Mass Effect-Author Drew Karpyshyn explained in a question and answer session on Reddit that it was definitely planned to return characters like Tali and Garrus from Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2. However, he was quite surprised that the two were also so popular with fans that they wanted to have a relationship with them.

Garrus particularly surprised him: He could have imagined it with Tali, after all she always wore her suit helmet, which is why her face was hidden. Despite the strange feet, so many fans could imagine that there is a human face hidden under the helmet. But Garrus caught him pretty cold. Ultimately, however, the people behind the Mass Effect games decided to give the fans what they wanted.
