WoW: Devil's Guard pet runs amok, makes Mythic +34 almost alone

A Warlock pet is completely freaking out in World of Warcraft. Blame it on a bug that inflates the demons to absurd strength.

Warlocks in World of Warcraft often rely on their demons. Especially in the case of the Demonology specialization, the demons are often what deals the most damage. But nobody could have imagined what is currently happening to some devil guards. Because nobody at Blizzard would have thought that devil guards would suddenly be able to clean dungeons on “Mythic+27” almost on their own.

What happened? There are currently a few videos circulating on the internet of sorcerers using their demons to master the toughest dungeons almost single-handedly. Felguards hit close to 3,000,000 health here in some cases, and deal 175,000 DPS throughout the dungeon – far more than any player can even begin to approach.

In fact, the damage is so high that the Fel Guard can virtually one-hit all normal enemies with their Blade Storm attack – only bosses survive these attacks a few seconds longer.

As a result, there are now even a few groups that have completed Mythic+34 within the time limit, all thanks to Felguard (via icy-veins.com).

This video shows how blatant these effects are:

How does the bug come about? Of course, we won’t reveal exactly how the bug occurs here. However, it is obvious that it has something to do with the various Torghast buffs that demons can acquire there. These include effects such as:

  • Pact of Resilience: Your demons have 50% more health and deal 50% more damage (stacks multiple times).
  • Pact of Infernal Proximity: Your demon deals up to 500% more damage.

These effects can be carried from the tower into the world and are then also active there in instances. This allows Warlocks to reach completely absurd damage numbers that trivialize any challenge in PvE.

Should one reproduce the bug? no Even if the bug was probably discovered by accident, you should not try to create and exploit it yourself. This clearly counts as an exploit and is usually punished by Blizzard with sensitive account penalties of weeks or months. “But I didn’t know anything” doesn’t help – Blizzard takes it really hard. We strongly discourage attempting to use this exploit.

Nevertheless, it is a very curious incident that shows once again how error-prone large MMORPGs like WoW can be – and how devastating the effects are if something doesn’t work as planned.
