Pokémon GO: Community Day in July with Staralili – This is how you use the event properly

Pokémon GO is celebrating Community Day with Staralili on Sunday, July 17, 2022. We at MeinMMO have looked at what bonuses await you on this day and will show you how you can best take advantage of the event.

Which event is it about? Every month, Pokémon GO hosts a so-called Community Day, which focuses on a specific Pokémon. There will be another such event in July, where you can meet the normal and flying Pokémon Staralili.

In this context, this will also be available for the first time in its dazzling form in the game. We have summarized below all the special features that await you on Community Day with Staralili and how you can make the best use of the event.

Community Day in July 2022 – Start, Bonuses & Shiny

As you already know from other Community Days in recent months, the event will again run for 3 hours. You can also benefit from individual bonuses, such as the event attack, the additional special exchange and the reduced stardust costs when trading until 7:00 p.m. local time.

Bonus Raid Battles: As in June, there will be special level 4 raids in addition to the above-mentioned bonuses related to Community Day. In these you can compete against the raid boss Staravia, the first evolution of Staralili.

Note, however, that you can only do these raids locally. Participation via long-distance raids is therefore not possible. As a reward for winning a raid, you can look forward to wild Staralili spawning in a radius of 300 meters around the arena for 30 minutes. As with C-Day, you have an increased chance of encountering a dazzling specimen.

What is the best way to use Community Day with Staralili?

How to prepare: Of course, as you know from other events, you should make room in your Pokémon storage with Staralili before Community Day. So sort out monsters now.

The best way to do this is to use the in-game filter and tag functions. With the search “0*,1*,2*” you can directly see all Pokémon that only have a maximum of 2 stars. If you have to sort out other monsters during C-Day, you can also add “Alter0” to the filter to only see Pokémon from the last 24 hours.

In addition to the space for your catches, you should also sort your item bag and stock up on the most important items there. Above all, you need a lot of balls on this day.

In order not to have to constantly turn to PokéStops and Arenas, it is therefore a good idea to start collecting now. If you want to play the whole 3 hours, you should have at least 200 balls in the item bag. In our guide, we explain how you can collect balls in Pokémon GO:

Other items you should use for C-Day with Staralili

Of course, the balls alone are not enough on this day if you want to get the most out of Community Day. Therefore, also have the following items ready for the event:

Smoke and Lure Modules: To catch as many Staralili as possible, you can smoke and use the PokéStops lock modules. These two items attract additional specimens. Both also last 3 hours that day, which is why you only need one to cover the entire event period.

pineapple berries: If you also use pineapple berries when catching, you will receive double the candy. You need these to develop and level up Staralili. Since there is already a candy bonus anyway, you will receive 12 candies per catch with pineapple berries and, with a bit of luck, even additional XL candies.

Lucky Egg: Throughout the event, you can benefit from x3 XP on catches. Achieving the group bonus even increases it to 4x XP. So if you really want to farm XP on this day, you should also set yourself a lucky egg. This doubles your XP for 30 minutes.

Also, don’t forget that Community Day is also a great opportunity to level up with your fellow trainers. Many players already open the gifts at the start of the event. In order to get as many EPs as possible here, too, it is worth betting on a lucky egg.

It’s best to talk to the other players about this. Alternatively, also look at the name of the respective buddy, because trainers often rename them accordingly for the level up and give a time there. This is especially useful for international friendships.

Premium Battle Passes: After the Community Day with Staralili you can also take part in level 4 raids. However, these can only be played on site. If you want to do more of this kind, you should also have one or the other Premium Battle Pass ready.

Go Mega Evolution with Staralili during Community Day

Why is that worth it? If you want to farm even more candies by catching Staralili, you should also activate a mega development. If it’s the same type as the monster you’re catching, you’ll get an extra candy.

Which Mega Evolution should you use? Since Staralili is of the normal and flying type, the following mega developments are available here:

• Mega Aerodactyl
• Mega Charizard Y
• Mega pigeon boss
• mega kangaroo

If you then want to compete against Staravia in the level 4 raids, you should also rely on Mega Aerodactyl. The mega development not only gives you additional candies because of the flight type, but also gives you an advantage in battle thanks to its additional rock types.

Staravia is vulnerable to rock, electric, and ice attacks. If you rely on Mega Aerodactyl in the raid, then this also strengthens the rock attacks of all other monsters, which means that Staravia can be defeated faster.

Is Community Day with Staralili worth it?

Does Shiny Staralili exist? Yes, for the first time the dazzling Staralili will be available in the game. Since there is also a higher Shiny rate at Community Day, your chances of encountering one or the other are also good. You can recognize Shiny Staralili by its light brown plumage.

How strong is Staralili? The Pokémon of the normal and flying type from the 4th generation of games is not particularly strong and therefore does not play a role in raids and PvP battles (via pvpoke.com). It is similar with its first further development, Staravia.

Staraptor, the last evolution of Staralili, can score with a strong attack value. And his stamina is solid too. In defense, however, it weakens a bit. It already had a strong moveset in Wing Flapping and Dive, although Dive takes a while to load.

With the event attack wind gust, however, it does significantly more damage to the opponent with the instant attack. This makes it even better as a candidate for use in raids, allowing Staraptor to rank among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.

Who should use Community Day? The Community Day with Staralili is especially interesting for shiny hunters, since the Pokémon can be caught in its dazzling form for the first time. In addition, Staralili has a strong evolution that benefits from the new event attack, making it a good alternative for use in raids.

But the XP bonus is also really worthwhile during the Community Day. If you still lack experience points on the way to level 50, you should definitely use this opportunity.
