We’re keeping our fingers crossed for Kojima, we still think NFT sucks, and we want more PS5-only games!

Raise your hands, weekend! For the newscast, today is actually Friday the 13th. But we think that’s a lucky day, because it’s the thirteenth episode of our little round of talks on current events in the video game world. The news situation was wide-ranging this week, but full of big topics. We’re talking Rockstar Games, Hideo Kojima, Final Fantasy, Kirby and the long-awaited release of Bayonetta 3. Well, if that isn’t an impressive list for the summer! By the way, for those who didn’t notice: Yes, the release date of PlatinumGames’ third Bayonetta was announced this week!

But let’s start with Rockstar Games: Here Red Dead Redemption has to step into the shadow of GTA. This applies both to the online game and to possible remakes, remasters or ports from the Western franchise. You can find out in the video above why we not only find this totally understandable, but also a bit good. Just like the reason for our Kirby euphoria! Because out of nowhere, Nintendo announced a new Kirby game, even though its first 3D adventure was launched this year. Kirby’s Dream Buffet is supposed to be this summer appear and become significantly smaller than Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

But maybe we were just so euphoric because we were so aware of the terrible tragedy surrounding Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzō Abe wanted to distract. It’s frightening how media suddenly Hideo Kojima for the culprit because they can’t – or don’t want to – tell meme forums and real sources apart. Thankfully, Kojima is now taking legal action. However, you cannot take legal action against NFTs and that depresses the mood a little. Because the topic is (unfortunately) far from off the table. Old greats, like Syndicate creators Peter Molyneux or Dead-Or-Alive inventor Tomonobu Itagaki, are now simply founding their own studios that develop games around cryptocurrencies.

Oh no.

Then there was a small discussion internally about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the legitimacy of a PS5-exclusive development, which we didn’t want to withhold from you. We were wondering when will there actually be any technical progress with games in this generation of consoles? At the moment, not many developers dare to create PS5 or Xbox Series X exclusive titles. But it’s also understandable if there aren’t enough consoles for everyone. But the release date for Bayonetta 3 has every reason to celebrate! Additionally, the first Umbra Witch game will be available physically later this year.

And after this somewhat sad note on which the newscast ended, we would like to encourage you to think positively: Which game last gave you a really good mood?
