Minecraft Legends: New details announced by the developers

The development team of the announced game Minecraft Legends has published a developer diary with new details about the game.

As we reported last month, Minecraft Legends is set to be an action-strategy game that tells the story of the overworld. In the latest video, the developers now talk about more details:

“Minecraft Legends will be an action-strategy game in which the mobs of the overworld unite to defeat a piglet invasion. Players will rediscover environments and creatures, but new things will also be introduced,” said Chief Creative Officer Jens Bergenstein.

Meanwhile, Creative Director Magnus Nedfors responded to the question of whether future players need previous Minecraft experience to fully enjoy the game:

“I believe Minecraft Legends will be a game for a wide range of players. Experience with other Minecraft games is not necessary. However, if players are already familiar with the Minecraft universe, they will feel at home… just different.”

In general, the story should not necessarily be a “real” story in the Minecraft universe: the story can certainly be understood as a fictional narrative that is based more on fables and myths in the Minecraft world.

The game has been in development since 2018 and is scheduled for release in the first half of 2023. As always, Xbox Game Pass users can rejoice: It will be included in the subscription upon release!
