With the Aya Neo Air handheld console there will soon be a new competing product for Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and Co. on the market. This is a 22.4 cm console with an OLED screen and AMD Barcelo APUwhich should therefore be particularly compact and powerful.
The handheld was presented at an AYANEO showcase and its appearance is reminiscent of a Nintendo Switch console. In its function and construction, however, the device is more similar to the Steam Deck, since here particularly powerful components were installed.
The Aya Neo Air is equipped with a Ryzen 7 5825U APU with 8 cores and 16 threads equipped, which are clocked at up to 4.5 GHz. In addition, the device has an M.2 SSD slot and up to 32 GB of storage. So overall, the console is more powerful than the Switch, but not quite on par with Valve’s Steam deck.
The special advantage of the Aya Neo Air is more in the lightness and handiness. The OLED display measures just 6 inches diagonally, which is one inch less than the Switch and the Steam Deck. Content should be played here in 1080p. The biggest drawback are the small batteries, which only have 10,050 mAh.
In addition to the version described here, there will be a weaker version with a Ryzen 5 5560U APU and a more powerful device called Aya Neo Air Plus. The latter is said to be equipped with an AMD Mendocino quad-core CPU and RDNA2 graphics.
The cheapest version should cost approx 200 dollars appear. The Aya Neo Air with Ryzen 7, on the other hand, is starting 500 dollars cost while the pro version up to $1400 should cost in the best configuration. The handheld consoles are to appear in the Fall 2022.
