Return to Monkey Island: Short game scenes shown on Twitter
In June, the art design of Return to Monkey Island caused excitement among fans. A trailer caused nasty comments that even made Ron Gilbert want to say nothing more about the game (we reported). A mini scene has now been shown on Twitter.
No change in style design
Dave Grossman posted a minimal scene from the adventure on Twitter, in which actually not much happens other than Guybrush Threepwood running from left to right. Nevertheless, the almost 10 seconds have a certain significance. It’s the first material to be released after the trailer scandal. Grossman’s implicit statement might be: “We’re not changing anything. And that’s how good our game looks.”
New surveillance video for #MonkeyIslandMonday! Strange man seen striding purposefully on Melee dock, ignoring the pelicans and bar as though he had somewhere to be, some devilish puzzle to solve… @grumpygamer have you seen this? pic.twitter.com/Hplm9h9IHc

In fact, Ron Gilbert couldn’t keep his own vow of silence either and commented on the tweet. Among other things, he confirmed that the clip is really an in-game scene.
A release date for Return to Monkey Island is not yet known. The adventure should be released in 2022 for PC and Nintendo Switch.
