While most fans are looking forward to Modern Warfare 2, a Warzone professional calculates the series: There hasn’t been a good Call of Duty for years.

Santa Monica, California – Annual releases or not, the release of a new Call of Duty is always an event. So this year too, after all, this year’s CoD bears the title of a former favorite part of the community: Modern Warfare 2. But not everyone is optimistic about the release of the upcoming offshoot. A big streamer and former CoD professional is rather pessimistic about the new part. In his eyes, not a good Call of Duty has appeared in years.

What happened? On July 15, streamer and former e-sportsman NICKMERCS shared a new highlight video from his live stream on YouTube. Most recently, the co-owner of FaZe Clan had discussed Call of Duty and Warzone 2 with TimTheTatman and Clockzy in the stream and inevitably the past of the series also came up. After all, NICKMERCS has been a huge fan of the series for years. Lately, however, his favorite shooter has left the streamer disappointed.

What does NICKMERCS have to say about Call of Duty? From minute 9:00, NICKMERCS began energetically sharing its very own opinion on the recent Call of Duty games. He thinks: There hasn’t been a really good Call of Duty since Black Ops 3. Especially in the last games and the still current Vanguard, he hardly leaves a good hair. The last title from Sledgehammer Games was generally less well received by most fans and NICKMERCS probably suspected that before the release.

What are these idiots doing going back in time? Clock, do you remember when they announced the new CoD and how it got into the [Battle Royale] would be integrated and all the hype was for it? And then they revealed to Vanguard and I was big rambling that if they go back in time how bad the whole shit is going to get – and bro, here we are.

In the video, NICKMERCS isn’t above letting his opinion become a little more controversial. Before his Vanguard debauchery, he said that in the years leading up to Black Ops 3, nothing but good bits of Call of Duty had come out. He even counts Ghosts and Advanced Warfare, which in the eyes of many fans belonged to the more mediocre parts of the series. Call of Duty Ghosts in particular left many gamers cold at the time and had one of the worst meta scores in the entire series.

Was Black Ops 3 really the last good Call of Duty? Fans keep arguing about the better parts of the “Call of Duty” series. The Black Ops 3 advertised by NICKMERCS is actually rather rare and TimTheTatman and Clockzy also have their doubts. For example, the two Twitch streamers also defend Modern Warfare (2019) against the criticism of the CoD professionals. But many agree on his criticism of Vanguard. Other well-known streamers, like MontanaBlack, also had little good to say about Vanguard.

What about the future of CoD? In his stream, NICKMERCS was still pessimistic about Call of Duty, but things could improve again in the future. After all, this year is the long-awaited release of Modern Warfare 2, which should follow on from the much-praised Modern Warfare of 2019. In addition, the Battle Royale of Call of Duty will be completely relaunched with Warzone 2 and will also be released this year. The only question is whether the two titles can live up to their predecessors.
