PS Plus issues again with Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade DLC blocked on PS5

In theory, you can currently play Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on PS4 or PS5 with a PS Plus Extra or Premium subscription at no extra cost. This only works if you don’t already own the game.

If you’re like me, then you’ve only played the base game so far and wanted to catch up on the Intermission DLC with Yuffie at some point. Actually, now would be the ideal time, but unfortunately that’s not possible because the Intergrade Bundle is blocked for everyone who has already downloaded FF7 Remake from the PS Store.

The problem with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and PS Plus

It’s all about this: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is part of PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium since yesterday. Downloading the title counts as a PS Store purchase, even if you don’t pay a penny.

If you already own the base game, you can only purchase the DLC in the shop. The problem: This is not available separately for PS Plus. The system means that you cannot play Intermission for free if you already own Remake (via VGC).

Will the bug be fixed? It’s not the first time Final Fantasy 7 Remake and PS Plus have been at odds. Last year, the game was already part of the monthly free lineup. However, this was a special version that did not qualify for the free PS5 upgrade. After receiving a fair amount of criticism from fans, Square Enix backtracked at some point and released the intergrade upgrade for the PS Plus version of FF7 Remake as well.

Accordingly, there is of course hope that the problems will also be solved this time. Especially since this is really just a glitch of the PlayStation system, which also penalizes those who originally paid money for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. However, there is no official statement at this time.

More news on the topic:

When will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth be released? The next installment in the remake series doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but it’s set to hit the market in winter 2023. Rebirth will be exclusive to PS5 at launch. According to Square, the fact that there will be no PS4 version is mainly due to the large game world of the title.
