WoW: Dragon Flight: Spoilers! Situation in Stormwind remains tense
In WoW: Shadowlands, King Anduin Wrynn was one of the most tragic figures. Unlike the other Alliance and Horde leaders, he only escaped the Jailer’s clutches at the very end and was even used as a puppet. This did not leave the young lion untouched. Again Shadowlands epilogue with Sylvanas in the Maw, the Stormwind King is taking a break to process all the horrific events.
What about the future of Allianz? Worgen leader Genn Greymane and SI:7 legend Mathias Shaw are concerned about this. It is suspected that Turalyon will sooner or later rule harsher than his predecessor in Stormwind and that there could be an escalation. With Turalyon’s lingering hatred of the Horde and a slightly different take on the power of Light, Stormwind and the Alliance are in for a turbulent time. After Shadowlands, people were more concerned about peace again.
Dragonflight-Alpha: Mathias Shaw and Genn Greymane in conversation (spoilers)
Anduin’s familiars, Mathias Shaw and Genn Greymane, are also concerned about the Alliance’s future. Already from one previous dialogue from the Dragonflight alpha we know that Turalyon does not greet the Dracthyr in Stormwind. He would rather hunt dragons than befriend them and is generally skeptical of dragons – no wonder after Onyxia and Wrathion. In Stormwind, Genn and Shaw talk again, but this time without Turalyon.
Shaw: King Greyamne, I thought you should know. Wrathion asked if there’s been any word from–
Greymane: Anduin? He asked me the same question. Though their friendship has been strained, I know the king considers Wrathion an ally.
Shaw: Several years have passed since Azeroth’s heroes returned from the realms of Death.
Shaw: In that time, I’ve followed up on countless leads. Reports that the king was sighted here or there. None of them have been proven true.
Greymane: I do not think that we will find Anduin until he wishes to be found. That may take some time.
Shaw: Turalyon is popular with the nobles, and he’s a natural leader to our soldiers. But the people of Stormwind miss their king.
Greymane: The best thing that any of us can do is give Anduin the time he needs. And to be here for whenever he comes home.
Wrathion will have a role again in Dragonflight. In Stormwind he asks about his friend Anduin. But he is known to have disappeared. Nobody knows where the king takes a break. Shaw talks about that “several years have passed” since the return of the heroes from the shadow lands.
From Shaw’s countless reports, Anduin is said to have been seen from time to time. Greymane adds that they won’t find Anduin until the young king wants to be found. In the same context, Turalyon is discussed again, who is held in high esteem by the nobility and the guards of Stormwind. However, the citizens of Stormwind want their true king back.
Tense storm wind climate
With these dialogues, the developers make it clear that the situation in Stormwind remains tense and that Turalyon could possibly cause problems in the future. Even though everything in Dragonflight focuses on the Dragon Island, it will be exciting to see how the story develops around the alliance and how Anduin will eventually come to the fore again. How do you think the leadership of the alliance will continue? Led by Turalyon, is the Light our next big enemy? Write to us in the comments.
