Ubisoft is reportedly working on a spin-off of Immortals: Fenyx Rising with Hawaiian Polynesian culture as the setting rather than a sequel.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising turned out to be a successful new brand for Ubisoft. Both for players and critics.

We reported on the first rumors about a successor to the open-world action game in April.

But maybe Ubisoft is not working directly on a successor.

As the usually well-informed insider Jeff Grubb revealed on his podcast, the developer is said to be working on a spin-off of the same nature rather than a direct sequel.

According to the information, the game is being developed under the name “Oxygen”. It is based on the Polynesian culture of Hawaii and lets you slip into the male or female role of a hero.

As Grubb goes on to explain, Project Oxygen is still meant to be visually stylized, but Ubisoft aspires less to be a copy of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We’re talking more of a visual reboot.

The development is in an early phase of pre-production. The game could possibly be released in 2025.
