You can now try The Quarry for free on Xbox consoles and Steam

Not sure if interactive slashers are your thing? Or did you enjoy Until Dawn but were unfamiliar with Supermassive’s recent horror games from the Dark Pictures Anthology? Then you can now convince yourself for free whether The Quarry appeals to you. Free trials are now available on Steam and Xbox consoles.

The new interactive slasher

It’s all about this: Released on June 10th, The Quarry brings us exactly what fans of horror games have come to expect from Supermassive: an interactive film about a group of teens who are at first high spirits, flirting and teasing until the mood changes and they a night of horror lies ahead.

That night it’s our job to either get the troops through or – if we want – kill them all. We influence this through dialogue options, decisions (do I explore this room or not?) and QuickTime events in which we have to enter the correct input quickly enough or hold our breath with a keystroke and breathe again at the right moment.

Alone or with others: In the full version, you can experience the bloody adventure either alone, in couch co-op or, more recently, in online multiplayer with friends. You can read more about the last option in our column where we describe our experience. In the demo, however, you have to set off without reinforcements.

This is how the trial version works

All you have to do is search for the game on Steam or your Xbox console. On Steam you will find the free trial version directly, on your Xbox you have to select the normal game (not the Deluxe Edition) and you will find the demo there for free download.

Unfortunately, we cannot tell you how long this offer will last or how much time you can spend in the game with the trial version. If you select “Play demo” in the main menu, you start at the very beginning of the story, which makes sense given the risk of spoilers. By the way, the full version is currently reduced by 33% in the Xbox store and on Steam.
