Amazon Prime will be more expensive in September

Amazon wants more money for a Prime membership from you soon.

As the company announced today, the monthly fee for an Amazon Prime membership will increase from EUR 7.99 to EUR 8.99.

The annual fee also increases

Not only the monthly fee is affected. Anyone who pays for the whole year must transfer 89.90 euros instead of 69 euros to Amazon from September 15, 2022, when the changes come into force.

So if your membership renews before that date, you’re in luck. At the beginning of the year, Amazon had already increased the price for Prime in the USA.

“We are making this change in light of general and significant cost changes due to inflation,” the company explains its move. “These lead to an increase in the cost of the Prime service in your country and are based on external circumstances that are beyond our control.”

The price in Germany thus increases shortly after the start of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The series will debut on September 2, 2022 on Prime Video.
