Digimon have been around in various forms for 25 years now: toys, anime, manga, video games. However, no production or publication has been able to clarify some questions about the mysterious creatures to this day. Perhaps the most important mystery of the franchise is the question of the origin of the beings. Where do the Digimon actually come from? Thanks to the new RPG, we now know the answer.

The origin of the Digimon is probably clear

It’s all about this: Habu Kazumasa is working for Bandai Namco on the new video game Digimon Survive, which will be released later this week. During the course of development, Kazumasa had contact with Hiroyuki Kakudo, the main person responsible for the anime series Digimon Adventure. A central point in the conversation between the two was the origin of the monsters (via comic book).

Where do Digimon come from? According to Kakudo, the Digital Monsters aren’t actually digital creatures at all, as the name might suggest. Instead, they just use technology to communicate more easily with people. As you probably know, Digimon look for human partners with whom they enter into a pact. So they’re not easily transferrable like, say, Pokemon. The situation is more comparable to Ash’s Pikachu.

More exciting anime news:

For Kakudo, Digimon are spiritual beings like the Japanese yokai. They exist in the world and can contact people through different ways. That they exist as digital data is only due to the convenience of being able to enter our world in this way.

Digimon have always been present around humans in a more spiritual sense. It’s not just a data thing. Based on this, Kakudo believes that Digimon have always been her partners, so they have a great bond and interact with each other a lot.
