Avengers: Kevin Feige Confirms Shang-Chi Director for The Kang Dynasty

the San Diego Comic Con had some highlights in store for Marvel fans. It wasn’t just the first Trailer for the new Black Panther movie Wakanda Forever to see, but also a first look at Phase 5 and 6 of the MCU. Kevin Feige revealed there are more Avengers movies to come. It has now been announced that Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) directed for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will take over.

The Avengers will reassemble

The Avengers caught up in 2019 end game her grand finale, the Infinity Saga for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and grossed nearly $2.8 billion worldwide. Since then, Marvel Studios has focused on introducing new heroes and heroines as well as pushing forward with sequels featuring their remaining top characters.

As Kevin Feige revealed at the Marvel presentation at SDCC last Saturday, the Avengers will reassemble, and in two movies, which are planned for 2025. Cretton has become an integral part of the Marvel family through his success with Shang-Chi. His film from last year played worldwide, $432 million and landed him a blanket deal with Marvel.

In this context, Cretton is currently co-developing a live-action series with Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community). wonder man, on which he will serve as executive producer and possibly direct one or more episodes. He is also working on a sequel to Shang-Chi.

So the Shang-Chi director is following in big footsteps with one of his new projects, because directing an Avengers movie is one of the most prestigious jobs in Hollywood. Before him, Joss Whedon directed the first two Avengers films. Joe and Anthony Russo, in turn, shot the epic two-parter Infinity War and Endgame.

What’s next for the MCU?

It’s still unclear which new team will form the Avengers. However, it is known that “The Kang Dynasty” will start on May 2, 2025 and “Secret Wars” on November 7, 2025, thus ending phase 6 of the MCU. The new big villain will be Kang and will be played by Jonathan Majors, who also starred in him in the Disney Plus series Loki has presented.

Another Kang version will be in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania presented on February 15, 2023. This movie will kick off phase 5 of the MCU. Majors has already confirmed that this will not be Kang from “Loki”, but a new version. Phase 4 of the MCU will conclude with the November 2022 film Wakanda Forever.
