GTA Online Summer Update 2022 is over. New content, more money for most activities and selling goods in private lobbies are among the most obvious highlights. But the strongest reactions are to the nerf of the Oppressor MK2 – MeinMMO shows why.

The open lobby is war in GTA Online. When more than two dozen heavily armed strangers clash in a large open world, that’s to be expected.

As a tool of war, one vehicle in particular was considered very popular and annoying: the flying motorcycle Oppressor MK2. In the future, however, the thing should cause less stress.

Oppressor nerf hits homing missiles hard

What happened to the vehicle? There was another hefty nerf to the fly moped’s missiles. Already in the winter update “The Contract” developer Rockstar Games tried to get the annoying rockets under control with a counterattack.

But that wasn’t enough and now the target search function of the Oppressor MK2 was tweaked. On the Reddit discussion platform, a player shared a clip with a comparison of the goal search before and after the update.

The rockets are now less mobile, do not hit as accurately and sometimes fly in different directions at random. A clear difference from the pinpoint hits before the summer update.

Troll moped was too powerful and manoeuvrable

Why is that such a big number? The fly moped is considered a “Griefer vehicle”. Griefers are players in online games who want to ruin or disrupt the experience of other players.

The high mobility of the Oppressor MK2 paired with the extremely effective missiles allowed combat tactics that got on the nerves of many players.

If you saw such a flying part on the map and it was heading towards you, you already knew what was coming. It bangs, the cargo is broken and your own spawn point is also directly besieged in the best case.

There are still vehicles with missiles similar to those of the Oppressor MK2 before the nerf. But the other vehicles can’t benefit from the fierce mobility that an agile fly moped brings.

Players are celebrating the overdue nerf

What are the reactions to the nerf? After the update, the two biggest threads on the GTA Online subreddit are about the Oppressor missile nerf (as of July 27, 2022, via reddit.com). A total of 1,000 comments came together on the topic in less than a day.

Players exchange views on what alternatives there are, which vehicles are now terrorizing the skies over Los Santos. The comment with the most upvotes in the two threads predicts a return of the Jet Army (via reddit.com).

Jets were the most “annoying” vehicles in the game prior to the release of the Oppressor MK2 in 2018. However, a lot has happened in the four years and there are a lot of new counterattacks. Others would prefer the Deluxo (fly car) or Ruiner 2000 (night rider car).

The atmosphere in the threads is definitely positive. Many players have long expected and even requested further adjustments to the Oppressor. Accordingly, there are many comments with happy reactions:

• Helpful_Fig_8424: “Good. Now people have to make an effort to deal with it effectively.”
• chickenrun840: “Oh, the tears of the MK2 trolls are so tasty.”

In addition, some players write that they have carried out initial tests in PvE to see whether the fly moped is still useful here – and that seems to be the case. No one says the Oppressor MK2 is useless now. The thing is only weaker for griefers and trolls.

The nerf was received very positively almost a day after the update and the developers seem to have found a good middle ground: the oppressor is still useful, but no longer a nasty nerve vehicle.
