On the PlayStation Blog Sony shared first impressions of the operation and setup of the PS VR2. The new VR glasses will offer pass-through or, in the official lingo, a “through view” so that you can see your surroundings thanks to the cameras on the outside of the headset without taking the device off your head. You can switch the view both in the Control Center and via a button on the headset. Sony points out that this is only a convenience function and that this camera image cannot be recorded by you.

Speaking of recording, if you have an HD camera for PS5, you can also use this accessory to record your movements when recording games. The cameras on the VR glasses should also scan the room to set up the play area. You can then use the Sense controller to readjust the play area determined in this way.

If you use the device in VR mode, the virtual environment should be displayed with a resolution of 2000×2040 pixels per eye, with a frame rate of 90 Hz or 120 Hz and with HDR colors. Alternatively, you can use a cinema mode where the interface, PS5 menu and media content are displayed on a virtual screen. The screen display should offer a 1080p resolution with HDR in 24, 60 or 120 frames per second.
