Highly Anticipated Action MMORPG Announces Global Release for 2022 – Coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X

For years, MMORPG fans have been hoping for the release of Throne and Liberty. The developers NCSoft have now confirmed that the action MMORPG will be released worldwide in 2022. The game was previously known as Lineage 3, Lineage Eternal and Project TL.

NCSoft started developing the MMORPG back in 2011. At that time it was supposed to be called Lineage Eternal, but it didn’t suit the publisher and was taken completely offline in 2017. In development, it is said to have already devoured more than 75 million euros.

So fans have been hoping for a release of the game for many years. Now the developers have confirmed that it will actually come in 2022.

Open game world, no fixed classes and a lot of story

What do we know about Throne and Liberty? In an interview, the developers have already revealed a few details about the gameplay:

• The game world should be completely open. You will always encounter huge world bosses there.
• The story of the game is in focus. There will be an overarching story that should explain to the player what they are actually fighting for, but also individual stories per area.
• There should be a variety of ways to get around, such as climbing or flying.
• Castle sieges play an important role. In the endgame, large PvP battles move into the focus of the MMORPG.
• The day/night cycle is important as some monsters only appear at night.
• The PvE should play an important role with quests, bosses and dungeons.
• There is a lot of content that you have to master together with other players. Guilds are therefore important.

What do we know about classes and combat system?

• There are only humans as a playable race. However, you will also be able to transform into animals during battle.
• The combat system should be similar to Blade & Soul, so very action-packed.
• There are no fixed classes, instead you equip two weapons that determine your playstyle. You can level up the weapons and improve them later. At the same time, your character will level up in the classic way.
• There shouldn’t be a classic Holy Trinity of tank, healer and DD.

Also released for the PS5 and Xbox Series X

You can not only play Throne and Liberty on PC, but also on PS5 and Xbox. So it will be the first new major console MMORPG since Black Desert, which came to consoles in 2019.

There should be no crossplay between the PC and the consoles. The developers justify this by saying that simultaneous patches on the platforms are complicated. Also, they find it unfair as some platforms may have advantages over others.

When exactly will the MMORPG appear? Still in 2022, we don’t know more details yet. The release is supposed to be worldwide, but it could be delayed a bit on the consoles because the manufacturers still have to take a look at the version and approve it.

What will it cost? Throne and Liberty will be either Free2Play or Buy2Play. In any case, there will be a shop. However, NCSoft promise that this will do without Pay2Win. They want players’ efforts to be rewarded. However, players who only play a few hours a week should be able to use the shop to unlock the game.
