Star Wars – Knights of the Old Republic Remake allegedly on hold – News

The well-known well-connected journalist Jason Schreier has at the business news portal Bloomberg published an article, according to that Star Wars – Knights of the Old Republic Remake got into very difficult waters – or rather collided with an iceberg. The studio Aspyr Media, which belongs to Embracer Group, had already ported the original and the successor to the Nintendo Switch and had been working on the remake for three years.

In June, Aspyr gave the production partners Lucasfilm and Sony a vertical slice demo, i.e. a fully functional playable section intended to illustrate the intended gaming experience of the finished title. According to Schreier’s sources, the team was convinced of the demo. However, the following week became Design Director BradPrince and art director Jason Minor fired by Aspyr.

Two factors were used as a possible explanation: First, too much time and money could have gone into the demo, which would have gone beyond the scope of the project in the long run. On the other hand, Aspyr indicated the end of 2022 as the release period to the partners, while developers stated that 2025 would actually be a realistic release period. The project is said to have been paused and Aspyr is looking for other jobs.
