New online game from former Witcher 3 devs looks like a very sinister Ghost of Tsushima

Thoroughly enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima’s setting and perhaps enjoyed the multiplayer as well? Then you should be interested in the new game by Dark Passenger from Warsaw. The studio also has CD Projekt Red veterans on board and is working on an online action game set in feudal Japan. It looks like the title will take a slightly different tack than Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer, but the atmosphere of the early artworks reminds us of the Sucker Punch game.

Co-op and PvP/PvE in feudal Japan

It’s all about this: DarkPassenger introduces itself and the new game on its website. Also on board are developers who worked on Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. About the new multiplayer game, the name of which we do not yet know, the team reveals:

We’re building an immersive, dark world filled with mysteries, extraordinary characters, and tense conflict that will consume the land of cherry blossoms.

To the starting point we also learn that nameless conquerors have overthrown the shogun and are now sitting on his throne. We take on the role of shinobis and their female counterparts, kunoichi, whose task it is to find artifacts of the new ruler “that hide extraordinary power”. We can face both AI opponents and other players.

We can also expect some pretty fast-paced action. The website states that, among other things, we can walk on arrows fired by other players. We also jump over roofs and climb pagodas and temples. Tactics and choosing clever routes should play a big role and provide variety, just like the verticality of the levels and dynamic weather.

We should have a wide arsenal of weapons at our disposal for the fights, including of course katanas, but also, for example, kunai throwing daggers. We should also be able to customize our character and weapons and invite our friends to the dojo for training.

We also learn that it is an Unreal Engine 5 title that will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. Unfortunately, there is no trailer yet. So far we have to be content with few artworks that can be seen on the website.

Does the game strike a chord with you and what do you wish for the title?
