Steam now supports the Nintendo Switch retro controllers

Steam now officially supports the retro controllers that Nintendo is offering for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

In other words, you can now use NES, SNES, N64, and Mega Drive controllers to play Steam games.

The other way to play

“Added support for classic Nintendo online controllers,” it says only in the patch notes for the new Steam update.

Opposite to The Verge However, a Valve spokesman confirmed that the controllers mentioned above are meant.

The retro controllers may have fewer buttons than an Xbox or PlayStation controller, but they’re obviously great for games that only use a limited number of buttons.

You can also adjust the key assignments using the Steam settings.

Of course, the controllers are primarily designed to play the available retro games on the switch. But it’s also nice to at least have the options to use them elsewhere.
