Effective immediately, many integrated graphics cards from Intel will no longer receive regular updates. The newly released Driver version 31.0.101.3222 of the manufacturer leaves out iGPUs of the 6th to 10th generation.

Instead, they want to focus immediately on graphics chips with Xe architecture, i.e. models of the 11th and 12th generation (Rocket Lake, Alder Lake) as well as the new discrete Arc and DG1 graphics cards.

The affected iGPUs are used in CPUs from the Skylake, Kaby Lake(-R), Coffee Lake(-R), Comet Lake, Amber Lake, Ice Lake and Lakefield series as well as various Atom, Pentium and Celeron processors. The change gives you the so-called legacy status.

The iGPUs will no longer receive monthly patches and day 0 game support, i.e. updates for new games on release. In the case of “critical bug fixes and security gaps”, however, they will at least be protected in the future by quarterly security updates.

The new Intel driver can be accessed via the official website of the manufacturer be downloaded.
