DualSense in PS1 colors awakens pure nostalgia in me and I would like to have it from Sony

The typical PS1 colors usually immediately arouse nostalgia among (former) owners of the console.

I’m actually pretty happy with my DualSense in Cosmic Red. I really like the color – in contrast to the white standard controller. Nevertheless, I can always be enthusiastic about beautiful alternative color designs. A DualSense variant in PS1 colors appeals to the nostalgic in me. I’m in the mood for it, especially after our big PlayStation 1 theme week. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too expensive for me.

PS1 colors suit the DualSense

It’s all about this: Twitter user GameDadVII writes: “An official PS1 color variant of the DualSense would sell like crazy.” The visual image doesn’t look bad and the tweet is well received.

In an answer, GameDadVII pushes another version of the idea, which is already available for purchase and which I like a lot better.

The shop colorware.com offers the pad. The color design is actually pretty simple, but I think it’s pretty cool at the same time. I like the fact that the case doesn’t have a consistent color, but two shades of gray offer a contrast. The PlayStation button is black, unlike the first image of GameDadVII, not the typical colors of the PS1 logo. I like both ideas.

The shades of gray combined with the button symbols in their typical colors are also sufficient for the recognition value: green, red, blue, pink. The D-Pad is completely darker grey. In contrast to the matte case, the buttons are shiny. By the way, there are also side plates in dark and light retro gray for the PS5 console to match the pad.

I didn’t think the colors would look so good on the DualSense. However, this variant will not move in with me (for the time being), since the price amounts to the equivalent of about 165 euros. That’s a bit too much for me.

That’s why I would like Sony itself to release a controller variant in retro colors that comes at a more affordable price, as suggested in the tweet. If that happens, I’ll definitely grab it, but not before.

How do you like the controller in PS1 colors?
