Sims 4 update accidentally introduces incestuous relationships as a bug

No romantic or sexual interests should develop between family members in The Sims 4.

With the new update for the life simulation The Sims 4, we can now fine-tune our Sims’ romantic and sexual interests better. So it is possible to engage in same-sex or opposite-sex attraction, be it romantic or physical. We can even choose not to be attracted to other Sims at all.

But the Sims community has discovered a new bug that will probably spread with the new update. The development team has already been informed and is in the process of fixing the bug, which would even be a criminal offense in Germany.

Romantic relationships with Sims related by blood

What is the problem? Many users in the Sims community have discovered that their Sims suddenly develop feelings for close blood relatives and want to form a relationship with them. For example, Reddit user ProfoundEnd wonders why his Sim gets a whim to ask her son about a romantic relationship:

Also in the official EA forum a user reports a bug that triggers a romantic relationship between twin siblings. The problem does not only affect individual users, because more and more reports about this strange bug are being received in the forum and also in social media.

Bug will soon be a thing of the past

According to The Sims 4 Quality Designer, a quick fix should be on the way soon. He writes on Twitter that the development team knows about the bug and was even able to reproduce it themselves. The team is working on a fix as soon as possible:

When could the problem be fixed? Since the development team does not yet know where the bug comes from, it could take some time before it is fixed. It is also not known whether the bug will be fixed with the next major update or with a smaller update.
