After the last video update from the developer of Ashes of Creation advances the combat system were in focus, we take a look at the Tulnar people, the fauna and flora of the desert biome and a beautifully designed snail mount in the August stream for the first time. In the following we have summarized the most important findings for you.

Preview of the deserts in Alpha 2

The first major program point of the stream revolves around the new desert biome, which will be playable for the first time in the upcoming Alpha 2 test. We get to know the flora and fauna of the desert, see individual buildings behind which dungeons could be hidden, and get to know a raid boss in this zone. The developers are also showing a new snail mount that has a surprising feature. But see for yourself:

After the “Desert Preview” followed a nerdy block about the tech tools and working methods that – also thanks to the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 – used to build the desert biome in particular and the massive MMO world of AoC in general. It is a great time saver, for example, that many of the graphic designer’s tasks can now be implemented directly in the engine. Previously, you had to switch back and forth between several external programs. Another advantage: several developers can work on a part of the game at the same time. Here you can find the corresponding block, with even more details:

The new people of the Tulnar

The next topic section is about updates for the “Character Art” area. There we see new material on the already known peoples of the Empyrean (a kind of high elves) and Ren’Kai (a kind of orcs), and we are also introduced to the Tulnar people for the first time, a kind of beast people.
