Steam Deck: Valve wants to ship reservations in 2022
Shorter wait times for the handheld console
If you’re still waiting for your Steam Deck, you can look forward to it. Valve has announced that it will ship all outstanding pre-orders by 2022.

Valve wants to be able to offer a Steam Deck to all those waiting this year. in one blog post the company announced that deliveries could be much faster than expected. The reason is that delays in the supply chain are decreasing more and more and production could be ramped up at the same time:
“We will be able to meet the demand for Steam Decks faster than expected. Many supply chain failures affecting the Steam Deck are gradually clearing up and we are expanding production step by step. As a result, we can now produce Steam Decks faster than ever produce before.”
Already in June it was announced that the production of the console would be doubled.
Anyone who was previously in the “4th quarter and later” time window should receive the console in the 3rd quarter (July to September). All other people waiting only have to wait until the fourth quarter (October to December). But not only customers who are already waiting should still be able to hold their handheld console in their hands in 2022. Even those who pre-order a Steam Deck now should receive it later this year:
“Currently, new reservations are added to the Q4 time slot. Should this queue fill up, customers will automatically be added to the following quarter.”
Interested parties can find out about the current status of the pre-order on the Steam website inform. New Steam Deck models can also be reserved there.
This means that waiting times for the Steam Deck are now significantly shorter than when pre-orders started in July 2021. Those who pre-ordered at this point often had to wait several months after the release in February 2022 until the console was finally delivered.
