WoW: Dragonflight: In-game cinematics explain the history of the Dracthyr
The intro quest line of WoW: Dragonflight apparently includes three in-game cinematics that summarize the lore of the Dracthyr. Among other things, it deals with the origin of the aspects, the fall of Neltharion and the formation of the Dracthyr.
When we come into contact with the Dracthyr in the upcoming WoW expansion Dragonflight, a whole lot of new old lore awaits us. So that new players in particular can keep an overview here, there are apparently several in-game cinematics as part of the intro quest series that provide us with the most important information. These cinematics are not yet available in the alpha, but the associated interaction window already gives us the first clues as to what we can see in the cutscenes.
For a history lesson with the Dracthyr
As part of the quest “Lessons From Our Past”, which we complete at the beginning of our journey on the Dragon Islands, we speak to the Dracthyr “Scalecommander Emberthal”, who offers us three dialogue options. Each of these dialogue options lead to a separate cinematic dealing with the lore of the dragons and the dracthyr.
The first cutscene deals with the history of the Aspects, with the dialogue option referring directly to the novel “The Fall of the Aspects” by Richard A. Knaak. We therefore assume that this cinematic will summarize the story of the novel and detail the later aspects’ victory over the proto-dragon Galakrond. The novel also tells how the aspects gained their power, which will play an important role in Dragonflight.
The second cutscene is titled “Neltharion’s Downfall” and as such will likely deal with the black dragon aspect Neltharion going insane, seduced by the whispers of the Old Gods. Finally, there is a third cinematic entitled “Dracthyr’s Origins”, which is believed to tell of the creation of the Dracthyr by Neltharion, who the latter created as the perfect soldiers. Currently, the cutscenes are not yet implemented in the alpha, but we will inform you as soon as we know more about it.
