Motorola Razr 2022 & X30 Pro: Launch canceled at the last second

Motorola actually wanted to introduce the Razr 2022 and the X30 Pro on Tuesday. However, for reasons that are not yet known, the company has canceled the launch of the two smartphones.

The official launch of the Motorola Razr 2022 and X30 Pro was scheduled for August 2 at 1:30 p.m. German time. However, a few minutes before the start of the event, Chen Jin, Mobile General Manager at Motorola and Lenovo, announced bad news on Weibo. The performance was canceled “for various reasons”. Jin did not comment on the exact reasons, nor was a new date given for the launch.

Tensions between the US and China may be the reason for the cancellation

One can only speculate about the reasons for the cancellation of the event. Many Chinese users believe the visit to Taiwan by Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, was the reason for the cancellation. A user writes under Jin’s post on Weibo: “A good decision, the headlines for tonight are already booked”. Other users comment briefly and concisely with “understood”.

The postponement of the launch could have been a good strategic decision. Many Chinese are currently following their country’s reaction to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. The presentation of the Razr 2022 and X30 Pro would not have received much attention yesterday. China is a particularly important market for the Motorola brand, a subsidiary of the manufacturer Lenovo. The fact that two such important smartphones as the Razr 2022 and the X30 Pro remain untouched at home could mean huge losses for Motorola. The Chinese manufacturer may now be waiting until the political situation has calmed down and then start a new launch attempt.
