WoW: Shadowlands season 4 is live - you need to know that

Season 4 of World of Warcraft Shadowlands has started and is doing things differently. We tell you what you need to know.

The final phase of the life of World of Warcraft Shadowlands has arrived. With today’s maintenance work (08/03/2022) the 4th and last season of the current expansion starts.

Since there is no fundamentally new content, Blizzard has instead come up with a few changes to bring some fresh air to the Shadowlands in the last few months before the release of the new Dragonflight expansion. We’ll tell you what the developers have in mind for Season 4 of Shadowlands.

What dungeons are there? Unlike previous seasons of Shadowlands, Blizzard is doing things differently this time. The dungeons from the current expansion only play a minor role, since most of the instances in the “Mythic+” game mode come from previous expansions. The pool of 8 dungeons for Season 4 is:

  • Tazavesh: Wondrous Roads
  • Tazavesh: Soleah’s move
  • Mechagon: Junkyard
  • Mechagon: Workshop
  • Upper Karazhan
  • Lower Karazhan
  • Grimrail Depot
  • Iron Docks

Affix: Shrouded, Fateful Raids and Dinars

This is the new affix “Covered”: In addition to the significantly changed pool of dungeons, there is also a new affix called “Covered”. This affix allows you to choose a secondary stat at the start of each run, which you can then obtain as a buff during the dungeon. For this you must destroy dreadlords that have mingled with the normal inhabitants of the dungeons. If you do this, you will receive the corresponding buff and can be even more efficient – the effect is even stackable.

What changes in the raid? Blizzard has also come up with something new for raids. All three raids become relevant again and are alternately assigned new affixes that differ from boss to boss. The currently active raid is “Fated” – its difficulty is then increased, but the rewards are also significantly better.

The rotation is:

  • Week 1: Castle Nathria
  • Week 2: Sanctum of Dominion
  • Week 3: Mausoleum of the First

Then the cycle starts all over again. Later in the season, all raids are supposed to be fated at the same time.

Along with this comes the new currency, the Cartel’s Confusing Dinar. You can earn these with a weekly quest, but a maximum of 3 in the whole season! You can exchange the dinars for specific raid items, which you can buy from new traders in Oribos, near the large treasury.

How long is season 4? That’s not quite clear yet, but probably until shortly before the release of the new Dragonflight expansion. Although Dragonflight has not yet received a specific release date, it is already known that the addon will be released by December 31, 2022 at the latest – i.e. this year. The developers have repeatedly emphasized that they are “on track”, i.e. on schedule.

What do you think of Shadowlands Season 4? A good thing to pass the waiting time? Or boring and not worth mentioning?
