Nintendo "is not announcing any new hardware this year," says Shuntaro Furukawa

Nintendo won’t be announcing a Switch, Switch successor, or any hardware this year.

This is according to information from Nikkei (via VGC) because the company currently has other priorities.

Which is currently more important

According to Nikkei, the company is currently focused on achieving its current plans and goals. In other words, efforts are being made to produce enough copies of the Nintendo Switch to meet demand.

“We usually stock up during the summer to prepare for the year-end sales season, which is the climax,” said Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa. “This summer we will not be able to produce as much as usual.”

More Nintendo news:

The goal remains to produce and ship 21 million Switch consoles in the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2023. However, it is still unclear whether this will be achieved.

Nintendo also still sees the switch in the middle of its life cycle.

It sold 3.43 million Switch consoles in the most recent fiscal quarter, up from 4.45 million in the same period last year. A total of around 111 million copies of the switch have now been sold.
