Overwatch 2: Will there be more pre-launch beta testing?
Overwatch 2’s second beta test just ended recently. However, since the free2play launch of the multiplayer shooter is still a long way off until October, many fans are wondering if it will happen another test phase will give. The developer studio has now decided to do this BlizzardEntertainment expressed – with rather bad news.
More Overwatch 2 beta testing?
In principle, there is still enough time available to at least one further beta test to host. But the developers seem to have other plans. Jon Spectorvice president of Blizzard Entertainment, recently took the floor via Twitter and granted further test phases a rejection – at least for the public.
“As of today, it’s just two months until Overwatch 2 launches. We know people can’t wait to get on board. There were also questions about the possibility of a third public beta. We continue to test Overwatch 2 internally on a daily basis, but no further public testing is planned. With all the valuable feedback we’ve received from the alpha and two public beta tests, we will focus our efforts on releasing the best game possible on October 4th.”
Who is the secret support character?
As such, there will definitely be no further opportunity for fans to download Overwatch 2 before launch on October 4, 2022 to play. Some of them had expected a third beta in which they the third new character would see in the league. The first beta featured the DPS character Sojourn, while the second beta saw the debut of the nefarious Junker Queen. According to Blizzard, the launch will also a new support character introduced, to which there are only vague hints. A third beta would have been the ideal opportunity to introduce this still secret character. But Blizzard seems to have other plans.
