One of Europe’s best players wants LoL to scrap a champ entirely: “It’s so gross”
League of Legends has numerous champions with unique abilities. But not all are really popular. Ironically, a cute kitten is not so well received by G2 jungler “Jankos”.
Who’s speaking? Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski is a longtime LoL pro who competes as a jungler for Team G2 Esports.
The LEC Summer Season is currently running. In a post-match interview with Jankos, the jungler also discussed some tweets from the community.
One of those tweets read: “Removing Yuumi would improve the state of the game in each patch”. And Jankos said: “I totally agree.”

What kind of champ is this? The support heroine Yuumi came into play in 2019 and has a special feature: She is able to attach herself to other heroes, heal them and even become invulnerable in the process. The other champ then does the movement for the cat, who can then rely on their skills.
This has led to strange situations over the years. One streamer even used his feet to steer Yuumi to play two champs at the same time.
What does Jankos mean? Marcin Jankowski is obviously not a fan of the support cat. For him, LoL would be better off without Yuumi: “I think the champ’s design is flawed. It’s giga-unfun to play against,” he says.
With the right partners, he thinks she’s far too strong: “Either she’s useless because her team is useless. Or she’s giga-OP, monstrously OP, because she can’t be killed. It then just moves like a little parasite on another champion’s back.”
This protection and feeding seems to go against the grain of the pro: “A lot of champs harmonize with her so well that she just can’t die. Perma-Heal, so much damage, CC – how to play against it? I think this champ is badly designed and should be removed or banned.”
Finally, he qualifies: “At least from pro games. If people want to play them in solo queue because they’re into it, cool. I do not care. But I think in pro play it’s just gross.”
Is he alone in this? No, numerous players are not necessarily enthusiastic about Yuumi – and have been for a long time. As early as 2020, one of the best LoL players called “Perkz” that Yuumi had to disappear. He said at the time, “I really wish Riot would admit they screwed up and just remove the champ from the game.”
Perkz spoke of “unskilled and anti-fun” at the time – precisely because Yuumi could simply jump from hero to hero invulnerable.
The LoL subreddit also discussed Yuumi again after the Jankos interview (via reddit). It calls Yuumi a “simple” champ who just doesn’t require much work – and that doesn’t go over well. In addition, it is neither fun to play against nor with Yuumi.
