New this week on Steam: settler city building, dystopian surveillance sim and satanic cult with animals

from Oliver Jaeger
In the second week of August, there will again be promising and popular new releases on Steam. On the one hand, a historical city building simulation awaits the players, on the other hand, they can slip into the role of a spy. If you want something particularly bizarre, you can also immerse yourself in a satanic animal cult.

New week, new luck: The indie developers are again coming up with new releases on Steam in calendar week 32, including an Early Access release and two full-fledged games. New this week are Farthest Frontier, City Eye and Cult of the Lamb (also on GOG). We briefly introduce these titles to you below.

What is Farthest Frontier about?

Finally appears on August 9th Farthest Frontier by Crate Entertainment on Steam, which has already been themed at PCGH, and is making its way into Early Access. The historical city-builder sim, meanwhile, is very popular, with over 50,000 followers and ranked 26th in the most requested games on Steam. In Farthest Frontier, players must cultivate new, untouched land as settlers. The title offers the familiar strategy game elements of city building with many different building types, gathering resources through farming or fishing, for example, and the manufacture of items that you can use yourself or use in battles against the enemy. Particular value is placed on the cultivation system, which is said to be the “most detailed of all time”. Finally, players must also ensure that the settlement is not afflicted by deadly diseases.

What is City Eye about?

At the end of the week, on Friday, August 12, interested parties can then work for a secret service and spy on the citizens of their city. This succeeds in the dystopian political simulation City Eye from Ultimate Games SA In it, players take control of a surveillance system that must be used to avoid every single violation of the rules in the game. A city map is used to identify dangerous areas. Criminals have to be tracked with cameras and photos taken of them, which are then forwarded to the secret service. In City Eye it is important to keep an eye on everything as a “Big Brother”, similar to the Eye of Sauron in Middle-earth in order to perfect total surveillance.

What is Cult of the Lamb about?

As with Farthest Frontier, players can’t wait for the release of Cult of the Lamb. The action-adventure from developer Massive Monster is the 13th most requested game on Steam and also has over 50,000 followers. PCGH also presented this title separately. In Cult of the Lamb, the player takes on the role of a possessed lamb who owes a debt to a stranger who saved it from destruction. To pay this debt, you found your own cult and gather a loyal following in the forest community.

The aim of the game is to spread the faith and wipe out other cults. The establishment of the cult includes resources from the forest, which are required for buildings and ritual sites. The game world consists of four different regions, which are procedurally generated in comic style à la Don’t Starve. On August 11th Cult of the Lamb final appears on Steam and GOG.
