Alone in the Dark: Leaker is causing a stir with a teaser for a potential announcement

Will publisher THQ Nordic announce a new Alone in the Dark anytime soon? In any case, the teaser from a well-known leaker encourages fans to speculate accordingly. We summarize the current rumors.

The game franchise Alone in the Dark hasn’t been heard from for a long time. If you skip the unspeakable Alone in the Dark: Illumination, it’s been 14 years since the last real part of the series was released. But fans of the horror game may be in for a replenishment soon, as a teaser from a well-known leaker suggests.

Announcement could be made at the THQ Nordic Showcase

Because the insider, who goes by the name of The Snitch on Twitter and has already made a name for himself in the past with correct information about Sony’s State of Play and the Summer Game Fest, attracted attention with the following tweet:

The phrase “The fear of the dark is what keeps us alive” comes from the film adaptation of Alone in the Dark from 2005. Fans are therefore speculating that this message from The Snitch could indicate a new part of the game series.

The franchise itself is owned in 2018 by THQ Nordic, which bought it from Atari at the time. The publisher is planning a digital showcase event for August 12, 2022, during which the presentation of a new Alone-in-the-Dark offshoot would make perfect sense. After all, the publisher himself has already announced in advance that the showcase will have everything to offer, “from serious, dark and hard to bright, colorful and just plain fun”.

While THQ Nordic has quite a few titles in its portfolio that fit the adjectives “serious, dark and heavy”, Alone in the Dark would definitely be a candidate for such a description. So far, however, the publisher has not commented on this. So we will have to wait a few more days until we find out whether there will really be a new Alone in the Dark.
