Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan would have loved to make a game in the style of GTA
Breaking Bad is still considered one of the best and most influential series ever. In five seasons, the transformation of the chemistry teacher Walter White shown to the feared drug lord. Many characters and scenes are absolute iconic and worldwide known.
Not for nothing is currently with Better Call Saul produced a series in the same universe, which meanwhile is already at six seasons has arrived. Merchandise comes in all colors and shapes, just the video game industry the franchise never really took off. According to creator Vince Gilligan However, there were always ideas and plans to do so.
Breaking Bad: A game like GTA?
The new information comes from Gilligan’s own podcast Inside the Gilliverse. There the writer and director talked about the idea of making a video game in the universe of Breaking Bad implement. Fans of the series have been speculating and dreaming about what such a game could look like for years.
Gilligan apparently would like a game in the style of GTA made, so probably with open world, shootouts and chases. Here is his statement verbatim:
“I’m not a huge video gamer, but how can you not know Grand Theft Auto. I remember saying to the people now running Apple who originally said yes to Breaking Bad, ‘Who owns Grand Theft Auto? If you can’t have a module, it can be a breaking bad [Spiel] give?’ [Es] still makes sense to me! Nothing ever came of it.”
So the idea was there, but apparently there was no interest in it. It is interesting, however, that not a few of the history of trevor out GTA 5 at least roughly the style of Breaking Bad would call inspired. It’s also about doing business there drugs and violence in a similar setting. The famous van from the series it has, after all, as Easter egg made it into the game.
Beyond that, there were probably plans for new games, but they never really caught on. Gilligan says:
“There have been a number of video game trials, some of which somehow made it to market. We tried to create a VR experience using the Sony PlayStation VR headset. We made a mobile game that ran for a while.”
With the latter he apparently refers to Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements. In which strategy game should players have their own drug empire build up. Of the release was in June 2019in the Sept 2020 became the game again set.
