Survival MMO Rust is now the biggest game on Twitch thanks to a $100,000 tournament with 160 streamers – Germans are shooting along
Survival MMO Rust has been seen a lot more on Twitch in the last 3 days than it has been in the past. It tops the trend list by a huge margin and is currently the biggest game on the platform. The reason is a $100,000 esports event with content creators like Disguised Toast, xQc and German Dhalucard.

What’s going on at Rust now? Rust is by far the fastest growing game in Twitch’s trend chart right now. In the last 3 days the watch time has increased by over 2.3 million hours.
This has pushed Rust back into the top 10 most watched games on Twitch, at #9. It’s even overtaken World of Warcraft, which is only at #14.
Expect Rust to grow even bigger over the next few days as Rust mania is just beginning.
Today, around 7:40 p.m. German time, Rust is once again the biggest game on Twitch and has even clearly overtaken LoL and Dota 2.
Why is Rust hot again now? Twitch itself has been hosting a tournament since August 9th featuring some of the biggest streamers in the world:
- 4 teams, each with 40 players, compete against each other in a 100-hour event, including 2 teams from the USA and 2 teams from the “EMEA” region, which describes the economic area Europe-Arabia-Africa
- it’s a $100,000 prize pool
- The event is to extend over 5 days
- The rush hour of each day is from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. – there is a broadcast

Who is taking part in the tournament? Twitch was able to attract some big streamers for the event:
Twitch’s supreme villain, xQc, runs his own team and includes Trainwreckstv, one of the biggest gambling streamers on Twitch, along with Summitg, one of Twitch’s veterans.
Strategy expert DisguisedToast leads the second team from North America. His team includes MrLLamaSC, a fanatical Diablo player, and Symfuhny, a hip shooter gamer.
The German Twitch streamer Dhalucard is team captain of one of the teams from Europe: He has Anomaly with him, a streamer who is always masked and who had great success with “Valorant” in the summer of 2020 – plus Cowesep, a LoL strategist. With CaptainMyko, Repaz and Sukidingels he has other German-speaking streamers in his team.
Spanish streamer Grefg leads the 4th team. He is one of the world’s most successful streamers and is best known for Fortnite, where he also has his own skin.
