Project TL wanted to be the big MMORPG 2022, but is now postponing the release – but is said to be finished

The next big MMORPG from NCSoft is called Project TL, or Throne and Liberty, as we now know. The title was supposed to appear in 2022, but is now being pushed to next year. We at MeinMMO summarize.

TL postpones its release: On August 12th NCSoft’s earnings call was held, where the company presented its quarterly report and then allowed some investors to ask questions. Of course, it was also about Throne and Liberty, the developer and publisher’s next big MMORPG.

Originally slated for release in 2022, this was one of the most anticipated titles in the genre. Mainly thanks to the Unreal Engine 5 graphics and the long development time, fans were really hyped for the game.

Now, however, the developer has confirmed that Throne and Liberty will no longer be released in 2022, but in the first half of 2023. The reason given by the developer is better strategic timing for the global market.

In addition, they want to work with the best partner for the release in the West. According to the latest rumors, this is Amazon, but NCSoft has not yet confirmed this.

Does the game still need polishing? The developers avoid exact information in the call. However, they reveal that TL is actually ready so far. 3,000 people have already successfully tested the MMORPG internally and these tests are to be continued externally “soon”.

The registration for these tests should then take place via an “unusual” way, which NCSoft has not yet explained further. It is also not known whether these play tests will also be playable in Europe.

They also want to adapt TL to the western market before the global release. The game currently still relies on many mechanics that are rather unusual in the West. You want to iron that out to ensure a successful, global launch.
