Apex Legends leak hints classic Call of Duty mode is coming with a twist Dexerto

Recent Apex Legends leaks indicate that Respawn’s battle royale will be getting a classic Call of Duty mode as an LTM, albeit with a slight twist.

Limited Time Modes (LTMs) have become common in Apex Legends to diversify gameplay and ensure players can enjoy Titanfall-style mechanics in as many ways as possible.

We saw the 3v3 Arenas mode go back in Season 9 and many others have dropped with seasonal events and takeovers.

Recent leaks, which coincided with Season 14, have hinted that a fan-favorite Call of Duty mode, Gun Game, is coming in the near future as an LTM.

Gun Game has appeared in various CoD titles since Treyarch introduced it in Black Ops. It sees players progress through 20 weapons, with each kill pushing the player to the next weapon. Melee dying causes players to fall back and the first player to kill with each weapon wins the match. Now, it could come to Apex Legends.

Apex Legends leak reveals Gun Game LTM announcements

Leaks posted on August 12 by a dataminer HYPERMIST revealed in-game announcements related to ‘Gun Game’.

It says: “Attention. One team has half the points needed to win… One team has reached half the points needed to win… One team is five points away from victory.”

The twist for the Apex Legends version of the mode appears to be that it will be team-based, whereas CoD Gun Game has always been a free-to-play game where players play solo.

It’s also unclear if the rules would be identical to Call of Duty, with Apex Legends’ team-based changes perhaps requiring minor tweaking.

Despite the leaked audio, Gun Game will not be confirmed until officially announced by Respawn. Many things can change in the development process and it is likely that LTMs have been scrapped in the past that never saw the light of day.

However, we hope to see him at some point in season 14.
