XIII: The remake to the remake has a first trailer!

“What is worth waiting for” is a saying that unfortunately does not always come true in the gaming industry. Just think of what has been postponed many times Cyberpunk 2077, which was an absolute technical disaster when it was launched on the consoles and even flew out of the PlayStation Store in a high arc. Also the remake for 2003 appeared Shooter XIIIwhich was released in 2020 17 years later than the original, would have been better left in the idea box.

The originally entertaining title would have been remembered as such – if you hadn’t tried hard to confuse it with the remake to put it back on the player’s radar. The shot backfired: players hated the remake and tore it up on Steam. We shared that too criticism back then in our test.

XIII: First trailer for the second remake

But the responsible publisher Microids could not be crushed: They apologized to the players and promised improvement by fixing the bugs and wanting to polish the remake again. Now the remake of the remake is within reach, as the outdated shooter appears on September 13th for all platforms – even on the Nintendo Switch.

Owners of the original remake will of course get the new version for free and can in one first gameplay trailer now check if the second attempt deserves a second chance. There you can see three minutes of gameplay, where the first thing you notice is the cel shading look, which with its thick lines is more reminiscent of the 2003 original than the 2020 remake.

It is of course difficult to see in the video whether something has happened in a playful way. as new features of the remake remake, the video description praises not only the new art style but also a better AI and “several technical improvements” such as a frame rate of 60 frames per second. This time the developer studio Tower Five was responsible for the listed features as well as the rest of the development of the new version.
