New Saw movie confirmed with beloved director set to return Dexerto

Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have just announced that they are starting production on a new Saw movie, set for release in 2023. Kevin Greutert, who directed two previous entries in the franchise, reprises his role in the lead.

Hot on the heels of the anniversary of Spiral’s release in 2021, the Saw franchise is getting its 10th installment in 2023, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have confirmed.

The new Saw movie, which remains untitled at the time of publishing, is on the way and will open in theaters on October 27, 2023.

As first reported damn disgusting, the next Saw movie will be directed by Kevin Greutert. Greutert is no stranger to the Saw franchise. He directed the 2009 film Saw VI and 2010’s Saw: The Final Chapter. In addition to his directing roles, Gruetert was also an editor on the first five Saw films, as well as the 2017 entry Jigsaw.

Plot details are being kept under wraps for now. However, two of the franchise’s producers, Mark Burg and Oren Koules, have started to reveal things.

“We’ve been listening to what fans have been asking for and we’re hard at work planning a movie that both Saw fans and horror fans will love,” they said. “And part of that is giving the reins to Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI, who continues to be a fan favorite throughout the series.”

The first Saw movie was released in 2004. Since then, the franchise has become one of the most successful horror movie series of all time. Saw is known for his gory and over-the-top violence as well. On top of this, the franchise’s iconic Jigsaw mask is one of the most universally recognized horror movie costumes of recent years.
