The standard version of the action game for PS4 and PS5, which was only released at the end of May, costs only €41.99 instead of €59.99, the deluxe edition is available for €64.79 instead of €89.99. Simulation on request: Like its predecessors, Sniper Elite 5 is a mix of stealth action and sniper simulation. How demanding the simulation aspect is depends on your settings in the options menu. With normal settings, a headshot from several hundred meters away is not too difficult. However, if you have to manually compensate for the bullet drop and factor in the wind, you suddenly face a whole new challenge.
Sniper Elite 5: France 1944 makes room for some beautiful scenes.
Stealth Sandbox: At its core, Sniper Elite 5 is more reminiscent of a stealth sandbox in the style of a hitman. In the nine large areas that we can explore freely, the main thing is to work out a plan on how best to get to our targets, and then feel our way forward step by step. In addition to our sniper rifle, there are also numerous other weapons, traps such as mines and, of course, sneak attacks available, which means that we always have numerous playful options open to us.
Inconsequential story, picturesque landscapes: After North Africa in part 3 and Italy in part 4, Sniper Elite 5 sends us to France in 1944. The story about another secret Nazi project that we have to prevent is not particularly creative and certainly not the reason why you play Sniper Elite 5 should buy. As far as the art design is concerned, the scenario was implemented very nicely. The wide levels offer plenty of space for beautiful and varied landscapes as well as for picturesque architecture ranging from tranquil villages to impressive castles.
