Starfield: Don't expect anything new at gamescom

Don’t expect any news about Bethesda’s Starfield at gamescom next week.

Bethesda has now updated a blog post that previously indicated there would be Starfield news in Cologne.

Happy too soon?

Said blog post previously indicated that Redfall and Starfield gameplay will be seen at a Community Get Together on August 26th.

“Come check out Redfall and Starfield gameplay and play Fallout 76 while you’re there,” it said. “Of course we also have a few surprises and goodies in store for you.”

More news about Starfield:

In the meantime, Bethesda has changed this section and both Starfield and Redfall are no longer mentioned. Instead, the focus is on Obsidian’s Pentiment, Age of Empires 4, Grounded and the Flight Simulator.

Microsoft is the only console manufacturer exhibiting at gamescom this year. In addition to Sony and Nintendo, other major publishers are also staying away from the fair, such as Take-Two and Activision Blizzard.

How long has Starfield been in the works?

Starfield was originally announced during Bethesda’s E3 press conference in 2018, which had no date at the time.

However, the company had been thinking about it for a long time, even before registering the name as a trademark in 2013. Starfield has been really active in development since the end of 2015. It left pre-production in mid-2018 and reached a playable state.

According to the current status, Starfield should appear in the first half of 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
