Deck 13 Interactive, the team behind The Surge franchise, are back from Opening Night Live with a new game called Atlas Fallen. This time, however, the development team doesn’t want to send us into a dystopian future, but into a dark fantasy world. But even there we have to face demanding fights, with a magic gauntlet through which we can conjure up weapons.

That’s what Atlas Fallen is all about

Colleague Natalie from GameStar was able to find out more about the action game in an interview. Atlas Fallen is set in the eponymous world Atlas, where destruction from the exploitative mining of a useful resource is omnipresent. This raw material is the so-called essence that the gods are after. With their help, they can work sand magic and thus keep people in check.

So life on Atlas isn’t too pleasant, especially if you belong to the lower class, the nameless – and how could it be otherwise: our character, which we can create ourselves this time, belongs to exactly this group of people.

However, our heroine or heroine has a decisive advantage, namely a magic glove and with this you can not only conjure up weapons, but also transform them. For example, as can be seen in the trailer, there is a kind of “sword whip” that is suitable for both close and long-range combat. There is also a skill tree that should provide even more versatility.

The Surge series can be classified in the Soulslikes category and Atlas Fallen should also offer challenging battles, but with a semi-open world, as the development team calls it, give you more freedom of choice in the challenges you face. You can also experience the adventure either in co-op or alone.

In this game, the story should also be more in the foreground than in previous titles. The team also placed more value on the development of the main character. However, the clear focus is still the combat system.
