New co-op survival game in Unreal Engine 5 exudes hard The Last of Us vibes

Rooted not only looks very pretty, but also has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay.

Imagine if you could build your own base in The Last of Us. You either start with a cabin in the woods or you barricade an entire floor of a skyscraper in the city, complete with traps and everything else that goes with it. Does that sound tempting? Then Rooted could be just the thing for you – and even packs co-op, lots of survival elements and beautiful Unreal Engine 5 graphics on it.

Rooted could make The Last of Us fans happy who want more co-op survival

That’s what it’s about: Post-apocalypse, bacterial bioweapons, you know that. Nature is slowly reclaiming the cities and man is man’s greatest enemy. Then there are drones and military robots and wildlife. So far, so common, even in Rooted.

The special thing about Rooted is on the one hand the promising look. Thanks to Unreal Engine 5, the graphics are very convincing and conjure up beautiful, overgrown ruins and forests on your screens. This is very reminiscent of The Last of Us 2, and in a very positive way.

On the other hand, we get next to the pretty UE5 graphics an exciting gameplay mix. As befits a genuine survival game, we have to build a base, collect materials, craft weapons and tools and, of course, explore the sometimes very hostile game world for all of this.

Fortunately, this not only works on your own, but also together with other players. Either we do with those im co-op together and help each other with gathering, crafting, building and defending. Or we’ll be at each other’s throats to get hold of the coveted resources.

Release – when and where is it coming? There is no fixed release date for Rooted yet. But currently you can Crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter support or add the game to your wishlist on Steam. So far, only the PC has been announced as the platform, but consoles may follow.
